Early zoeal stages of Pachygrapsus marmoratus (Fabricius), P. transversus (Gibbes) and P. maurus (Lucas) (Decapoda, Brachyura, Grapsidae) reared in the laboratory
José A. Cuesta, Antonio Rodríguez
The first and second zoeal stages of Pachygrapsus maurus and the second zoeal stage of P. marmoratus and of P. transversus are described and figured. Comparisons are made with known larvae of other species of this genus and previous descriptions of P. marmoratus and P. transversus. At the second stage the three species acquire lateral carapace spines. This appears to be a typical feature of this genus.
