A new record of Iphinoe crassipes Hansen, 1895 (Cumacea, Bodotriidae) from the Catalonian coast (NE Spain)
Jordi Corbera
Three specimens of Iphinoe crassipes Hansen, 1895 were collected from the sandy bottom shoreline off Blanes (NE Spain). The adut male is herein described. This species was described originally from a preadult male specimen collected in the Gulf of Guinea. Later, a subspecies described from the Israel coast was considered by the athor as a Lessepsian migrant. The present record in the Western Mediterranean casts doubt on this hypothesis. A new hypothesis is discussed.
