The contents of Hg, Pb, Cd, Fe, Ni, Zn and Cd have been determined in Boops boops, Mullus surmuletus and Pomadasis incisus from the coast of Santa Cruz de Tenerife (Canary Island). Experimental data show the low concentration of these metals in the fish analyzed where only three specimens of Boops boops exceed the Spanish maximum permissible level of Hg. Metal concentration vs length as well as simple and multiple intermetallic correlations have been studied, and principal component analysis and cluster analysis applied in order to show the overall structure of the experimental data. |
Keywords: Heavy metals, Boops boops, Mullus surmuletus, Pomadasis incisus, intermetallic correlations. |
