On the population dynamics of sardine, Sardina pilchardus Walbaum, 1792, from the Catalan sea (northwestern Mediterranean)

In this paper, the sardine resources of Catalan coastal waters are analyzed. The period studied covers the years between 1988 and 1991. The resource has a stable biomass and the fish stock is under exploited. Current fishing gear seems to be adequate in selectivity. The natural mortality rate and fishing mortality are estimated.
