Spongionella foliascens: a new foliose Dendroceratid sponge from the western Atlantic
Michelle Kelly-Borges, Shirley A. Pomponi, Jean Vacelet

A new species of Spongionella (Dendroceratida: Dysideidae) is described from the Gulf of Mexico. In addition to Dysidea and Euryspongia, this documents a third dysideid genus from this location, and provides the first record of a foliose dendroceratid from the western Atlantic. The systematics of Spongionella is discussed.
