This volume is a collection of the invited lectures given at a Seminar on "Anchovy and its Environment" held in Sant Feliu de Guíxols (Girona, Spain) in 1995. The purpose of the volume is to give a complete "State of the Art" picture on European anchovy and its surrounding ennvironment. The contents of the volume include regional reviews of environmental conditions (physical and biological) of anchovy habitats, early life history and adult biology and ecology, and descriptions of the different fisheries and exploitation patterns.
