First record of Hesionura serrata (Hartmann-Schröder, 1960) (Polychaeta: Phylodocidae) in the Mediterranean Sea (littoral zone of Barcelona, NE Spain)

The species Hesionura serrata (Hartmann-Schroder. 1960) has been previously reported in the Red Sea and in the Suez Channel. This is the first record of this species in the Western Mediterranean Sea. It was found in shallow waters from the littoral zone of Barcelona, NE Spain. A description of the species and some ecological considerations about its geographical distribution are included.
