Biology and fishery of the deepwater Rose shrimp, Parapenaeus longirostris (Lucas, 1846), from the Atlantic Moroccan coast
Ignacio Sobrino, Teresa García

Data from the years 1988 through 1991 are here presented for the weight/length (cephalothorax length) of fresh and frozen Rose shrimp, the annual variation of the different maturity stages in the female, and the gonadosomatic index. The latter showed a continuous spawn during the year with two peaks of maximum intensity occurring at the end of spring and the other in the autumn. A moult or growth appeared in the individuals reproducing for the first time. Values for first maturity size of 24.5 mm and 27.7 mm have been obtained according to the criteria used for this calculation.

Keywords: Biology, maturation, Parapenaeus, Atlantic Moroccan coast.
