Industrial catch of small coastal pelagic fish in Cameroon
Folack Jean

This paper is a preliminary note in the study of the industrial catch of small coastal pelagic fish in Cameroon. The report gives the characteristics of the marine fishery resources in Cameroon. Results of the analysis of statistical data collected at Douala fishing port are given. These data showed that most of the catch are demersal species. Small pelagic species are caught accidentally. The pelagic species are generally fished by artisanal fishermen; but artisanal fishing is not well organized compared to industrial fishing. The report thus raises difficulties faced by small scale fishing in Cameroon and the need to improve it.

Keywords: Industrial catch, coastal, pelagic, artisanal.
