Anchovy spawning in the Mira estuary (southwestern Portugal)

The aim of the present paper is to review current knowledge concerning anchovy spawning within the Mira estuary (1985/1992): (i) temporal and spatial dynamics of the planktonic phase (abundance, distribution, annual variability of spawning intensity); (ii) larval ecology (feeding, growth, swim bladder inflation) and (iii) factors controlling egg and larval mortality and recruitment variability.
